You Can Teach an Old Dog New Things

If you haven’t heard or been part of the deep freeze then count yourself as a the lucky one. I personally thought it was cold but dress appropriately and use common sense and you will be fine.

One member of this household however has no idea of polar vortex, wind chill or frostbite warnings. My dog Kibbles is that member. The person or persons who had Kibbles before me walked her. She has not been that dog who likes to be tied to a small area when outside. I do not have a fenced yard (although being a beagle/Jack Russel mix  almost guarantees digging an escape route).  All those things combined have ensured Kibbles gets walked 3 to 4 times daily. She has never liked having any type of sweater when going outdoors.

I knew it was going to be cold and -20 to -30 would not give me much time for a walk with no outerwear for her. I did go this weekend and buy her a coat. I came home and tried it on her but at 7 she has definitely lost her girlish figure so back to the store I go. I had to get a different style but it hopefully would fit. The  more important thing was would she wear it?

Well I need to tell you she loves it! She gave me no problems and even sat as we donned the coat. We went out and she kept toasty warm.

She enjoyed her time outdoors during the cold much more than I did.

That is one good dog! And cute too. I’m not in the super cold part of the country but I’ve said more than one when I see it on the news that the cold is ANOTHER reason why I don’t have a dog. I can’t imagine going for a walk in that weather. You are good!
