It finally happened we had our first snow event. It also brought with it frigid temperatures and I think the high with the wind chill was 19. This was not the magnitude of a Buffalo snow but somehow 2 inches made the road conditions as bad as 2 feet. Due to other circumstances I was not able to go to work today but I did have to go out and walk the dog.
The first sign of an approaching winter chill and snow began last night. Kibbles and I went for a walk and as we were coming back to the house I saw this small piece of beauty in the sky
It was the moon and there were no stars in the sky. The picture did not totally capture the beauty of the orange moon which lit the sky.
The snow came and dusted the area this morning and quit this afternoon. I have to admit I do like snow in December and January but then am no longer enamored with the white fluff. Kibbles on the other hand loves the snow and likes nothing better than to bury her snout in it.
I did manage to take a picture of the snow tonight.
The area will be in the deep freeze the rest of the week so I will definitely be layered when going to work of walk. Kibbles wanted me to remind everyone not to forget the pet gear before venturing out in the cold
Although this bone chilling cold is no fun, your pictures remind me that there is beauty and peace in a clear night and a covering of snow.
I agree. I think the snow against the night skies are beautiful. I plan to get more proficient in taking pictures at night. Thanks for dropping by and commenting.
What a sweetheart your Kibbles is — what breed is he/she?
Kibbles is a cutie and my buddie. She is an 8 year old Beagle/Jack Russel. I call her my hoppy hunter. She is a rescue that came into my life 6 years ago. Glad she picked me.

I agree with the comment above from bakinginatornado that bone chilling cold is no fun (or any cold as far as I’m concerned), but there is a peace and beauty that radiates from a fresh covering of snow. Beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing. XoXo
I want to learn to capture those pictures in a better light. I not always excited about the cold and snow but when I step out at night and see the beauty it gives me a calm and serene feeling. Thanks for your continued support. XoXo
I feel like pictures never really do things like snow or fireworks justice!
I agree and one of my photography goals is to get the fireworks this summer.
